Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington (Greek American) is a Greek American writer, syndicated-columnist and businesswoman. She is a founder of The Huffington Post and the director of Thrive Global. Author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington works as an writer, philanthropist and television host, and also the proprietor of The Huffington Post. Her birthplace was Greece she relocated to England at the age of sixteen and then completed her studies at Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. In her 21st year, she was president of the renowned debate club The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign born student who was elected to this position. Then she became a conservative syndicated writer after graduation and, with The Huffington Post launched a year after, she created an online platform for voice that offered criticisms on politics. Arianna was able to attract many prominent contributors to share their opinions about politics and culture. Arianna gained notoriety in 2003 when she ran as an independent candidate in the California recall elections to replace Governor Davis. In addition, she led an Detroit initiative to encourage fuel efficient cars. Forbes placed her at 12 on its top 10 list of Most influential women in the media. Guardian also included the Huffington Post in their Top 100 list in 2010. In 2011 AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post and made her president of that media group which included many then-existing AOL properties too such as Engadget AOL music Style list and Patch Media. Elli is the daughter of Konstantinos Stasinopoulos and Elli, who are both journalist and management consultants. They were very close to her father. However, it was her relationship with her mother which has shaped her. She was a leader from the beginning. At the age of 16, she moved to Britain for a degree and attended Girton College Cambridge. When she was in college, she joined Cambridge Union's colleges debating societies, and eventually was its first foreign female president. In 1972, her master's in Economics was awarded. Following the graduation ceremony, she worked as a critic columnist and television host. Additionally, she starred with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started creating books with his editorial assistance.
