Lee Roy Selmon's lifestyle is a combination of football scholarships, family involvement as well as community involvement. First, his family. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. He and his wife raised nine children on a Eufala farm. He played second in football and was one of three brothers who were players for Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-America. The year 1973 was the first time Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the players for one season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was one of the top linemen in across the country. During his three-year tenure as the Oklahoma's quarterback of choice, the Sooners went 32-1-1 and won two national titles. Selmon was honored when the National Football Foundation named him as a Scholar-Athlete three times time in the year 1975. Selmon earned a degree in Education. Fourth-year service in the university Lee Roy devoted ten hours each week on volunteer work. Following college, he moved to Tampa and played for nine seasons with the Buccaneers played the all-pro 3 times, and began an entrepreneurial career. In 1988, while working as an account liaison officer for First Florida Bank of Tampa and worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It's no wonder in 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of America's 10 outstanding young men. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch larger and weighing 256 pounds in college as a player, captained his team for the year 1975. He was hired by the University of South Florida in 1993 as the assistant director of sports. In 1988, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. The same year, he also was a part of the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon, Sr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor, who awarded this award.
