Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. She was born and was raised in Barcelona. Her eclectic music has earned her the title of "atypical pop star". In the age of 13 she fell in an obsession with Spanish folk music and studied musicology at Catalonia College of Music. She was also seen at weddings and music bars. Reimagining flamenco, mixing it with hip hop and pop music, it spawned the singles "Malamente" and "Pienso en your Mira" which caught the interest of the Spanish general public and then were released to wide applause from the critics. El Mal Querer was the first to bring Rosalia into the world stage of music. Rosalia was a pioneer of urbano music with her 2019 albums "Con Altura" and "Yo Ti Tu x Mi", achieved global success. With her third studio album Motomami (2022), she gave reggaeton a unique new twist, moving away from the original flamenco sound. Its singles "La Fama" and "Saoko" attracted the attention of the world's media and received the highest-rated album on Metacritic. Through her career, Rosalia has accumulated ten number-one singles in her home country, the most for an artist from the country. Rosalia has also been awarded two Grammy Awards, eleven Latin Grammy Awards (including two Album of the Year nominations), four MTV Video Music Awards, an MTV Europe Music Award, three UK Music Video Awards and two Premio Ruido awards, among other awards. Billboard gave her the Rising Star Award in 2019 for "changing the music scene of today by bringing flamenco to pop"[18The award was presented to her in 18. She was also the first singing Spanish artist to be nominated for the Grammys for Best New Artist. Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. Rosalia is the youngest of four children of Pilar Tobella, an entrepreneur who runs a small metalworking business. Jose Manuel Vila was her father. He was born in Cudillero (Asturias). They split in 2019. She has a younger sister, Pilar Vila ("born 1989") is her stylist and creative mind. Rosalia discovered her love for the performing arts as a young person, particularly after she discovered the discography of Camaron de La Isla. She started her musical education in Taller de Musics. She completed a six-year program at the academy. She began at the Raval school, but later moved to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia.
